If you have ever wondered how it is that you can get your name on the ballot and be the next Sr. or Sra. Smith from the RGV who goes to Austin or Washington, the Hidalgo County Democratic Party has put together this brief overview of the process. It is our attempt to encourage more involvement in the Democratic process at every level.
Of course, your best resource is the Texas Democratic Party's mini-camps or online training, but here is a brief listing of some of the more important stages along the process:
1. Fill out your application for a place on the ballot. (Deadline to file 1/4/2010)
2. Attend your local Democratic Party candidate announcements event.

3. Attend the drawing of your place on the ballot.

4. Start your campaigning and keep an eye on important dates.
