Our newly elected chair, Dolly L. Elizondo, is a native of Mission, Texas. Ms. Elizondo is a lifelong Democrat who has remained in the background of South Texas Politics while raising two daughters.

Seeing a need to bring motivation and credibility back to the Democratic Party of Hidalgo County, Ms. Elizondo filed for office in 2008 and became the first woman ever in the County to become Party Chair. She credits her win to grassroots campaigning-- knocking on thousands of doors countywide. Reaching her voters: "a door at a time". Elizondo's campaign manager has always believed that in an election "A campaign is won in the field." The rest is now history.

A business leader in her community, Ms. Elizondo is the owner of her own Real Estate Brokerage and Development Company. She has participated on several community boards, and has received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master's in Education from the University of Texas-Pan American. Ms. Elizondo also holds a CCIM certification, one of the highest and most respected certifications in the Real Estate Community. At present she is the only woman south of San Antonio to earn the designation.
